In each area of the curriculum Subject Leaders have identified three 'big ideas' or 'gems' as overarching themes to teach their subjects through. All the key knowledge that children learn is set within these. Teachers ensure that there is a balance across the whole of each series of lessons to ensure that all gems are covered. Children are then quizzed at the beginning of each lesson based on the facts from knowledge organisers, set around the gems as anchor points in these foundation subjects, to promote knowledge moving from their short term, working memory, to their long term memory. This knowledge organiser information is then revisited across the respective areas of the curriculum to further embed learning..
